After a Going Out of Business sale in the Spring of 2019, The Flying Carpet ceased operations. We will always be grateful to the many people who have appreciated the Flying Carpet as their source for handwoven Oriental Rugs, and for their love of our father, Bill Wright.

On February 25, 2015 Bill Wright passed away after a brief illness. He was 87 years old. He created Flying Carpet as an addition to Cabin Antiques - his mother's antiques shop - in 1972 after early retirement from Chrysler as an Engineer. The Flying Carpet was a joy to him, providing conversation and beautiful rugs to people throughout the Southeast was his passion.
